This Pedestrian Tunnel was designed to allow the residents of Stansbury Park to safely cross under Highway 138 from the North and South.
Narrative:
Highway 138 divided these 2 Stansbury Park neighborhoods as seen in the picture below. To the north of highway 138 is a city park with softball, soccer and disc golf course. To the south of highway 138 is the manmade Stansbury Lake. Constructed in the 1970s, Stansbury Lake is often referred to as the “Jewel of Stansbury Park.”
The construction of the pedestrian underpass allowed the residents to the South of Highway 138 to safely cross to the North and enjoy the city park while allowing the residents on the North to safely cross to the South and enjoy Stansbury Lake without having to cross the heavily traveled East and West traffic of Highway 138.
