When I was in elementary school, we had this awesome program called “Book-It!.” The idea was simple: bribe kids to read books by giving them free pizza. At the beginning of the year, our teacher would give us a “Book-It!” button and every time we read a book, we would get a gold star to put on our button. Once the button was full of stars, you would take your button in to the local Pizza Hut, and they would give you a free personal pan pizza. As a result of this program, I developed a love for reading, and a pretty severe weight problem…but that’s neither here nor there.
So I got to thinking, if it worked for a bunch of elementary school kids, why wouldn’t it work for civil engineers? I mean, maturity-wise, they are kind of on the same level. That’s where I came up with the idea for “PIPE-IT!”
Starting in 2021, in connection with our new “Mountain States Concrete Pipe Academy,” we will be launching the “PIPE-IT!” program. We have 1,000 buttons printed and ready to distribute to engineers and inspectors in Utah and Idaho. The rules of the program are simple:
1. Get your free “PIPE-IT” button from a member of the Mountain States Concrete Pipe Association. Just call or email and BOOM! we’ll get one over to you.
2. You earn one gold star sticker for every MSCP Academy webinar you attend. The best part: you don’t even have to attend them live! You can watch them at any time between the date of the presentation and the end of the year! Every quarter a member of MSCPA will get your stickers to you.
3. Earn and place 10 Gold Star stickers on your button.
4. Take a picture of yourself wearing the button with all 10 stars, and send it to us. Our contact information is below, so just keep reading.
5. Anyone that attends 10 (out of 12) webinars and fills their button, will receive a free, exclusive, limited edition, MSCPA T-Shirt designed by yours truly!
6. For every webinar you attend, you will also be entered into a drawing for $50 gift cards and a free trip for you and three of your closest friends to Top Golf in Salt Lake City!
To sign up for the webinars, just go ahead and click right here.
Also, here are the two shirts that you can choose from:
We are really excited for this new program, and we hope that you will take part in helping us to improve our industry through increased knowledge of infrastructure design and installation.
